ABOUT US
Mislabeled Productions
FROM THE CITY.
FOR THE CITY.
Mislabeled Productions is an independent production company based in Charlotte, NC, dedicated to telling stories from within the city and amplifying local voices. We create documentary films and live experiences that highlight the strength, talent, and diversity of Charlotte’s creative culture.
Based at the VAPA Center in Uptown Charlotte, we are surrounded by hundreds of artists across disciplines — from visual arts and murals to video, photography, comedy, and live performance. Our work captures this creative ecosystem and tells the stories of the people who make Charlotte a vibrant, innovative city.
Mislabeled Productions was founded and is led by creative director Nick Will, a native of the Carolinas who grew up immersed in Charlotte’s skateboarding, music, and art scenes. His passion is to help solidify Charlotte as a place that empowers creative minds, celebrating the city’s creativity rather than seeing its talent leave for somewhere else.
THE 10,000 HOURS
Our current focus is Charlotte’s music scene through The 10,000 Hours, a documentary series following musicians who are making an impact in the city today. Through 10–20 minute films, we highlight individual artists and their creative process, capturing the dedication and craft behind their work.
Each documentary is paired with a public event called Wish You Were Here, where we partner with local venues to premiere the film, feature a performance by the highlighted musician, and showcase other emerging artists from the music scene. These experiences create opportunities for exposure, connection, and celebration of Charlotte’s creative community.
The series will culminate in an untitled, full-length documentary exploring the history of Charlotte’s music culture and how it has evolved into what it is today.
